I'm Ted Kliman,
welcome to my online gallery
I never set out to make these paintings, but things occur accidentally. I had read a critical essay, "The Metaphysics of Cloth" discussing da Vinci's drapery studies which hint at inaccessible flesh; flesh suggested, but not revealed by the openings. In a metaphysical sense, the draped body is everything there is to meet the eye and sight becomes tactile, causing the viewer to dream the essence behind the substance. I was inspired and embarked on this series of paintings with non-existent faces and loosely defined human form.
I hope you enjoy touring my small gallery in cyberspace, and if you'd like, please drop me a line at tedkliman@mindspring.com.
